Terms & Conditions

    Please read these terms carefully before booking your training course

    1. Trainees must:

    1.1 Be able to ride a bicycle and have no mobility restrictions;

    1.2 Be able to understand and communicate with instructors in English;

    1.3 Be appropriately dressed (see paragraph 11 below);

    1.4 Be able to read a number plate from 20.5 metres away and bring glasses/contact lenses if normally worn;

    1.5 Bring on the day of training either:

    • - a valid Provisional or Full UK driving licence; or
    • - a valid EU driving licence registered with the DVLA (bring both the licence and the DVLA registration document). Old-style paper licences require photo ID;
    • - a valid CBT certificate (for trainees taking part in DAS training);
    • Trainees will not be able to participate if they fail to bring the documents listed above and their fee may be forfeited. Original documents only. No photocopies or pictures will be accepted.

    1.6 Ensure they have read and understand the current edition of the Highway Code;

    1.7 Settle all course fees in full prior to training;

    2. Where training is undertaken on a Trainee's own vehicle, the Trainee must:

    2.1 Provide original proof of insurance;

    2.2 Provide a current original MOT certificate where the vehicle is more than three years old;

    2.3 Provide evidence that the vehicle is taxed (if applicable);

    2.4 Ensure L-plates are fitted on both the front and rear of the motorcycle;

    2.5 Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and in good working order;

    Trainees will not be able to participate if they fail to meet the requirements above and their fee may be forfeited.

    3. CBT courses usually start at 08:00 (check your booking email for the exact time) and last approximately 6.5 hours, provided all five elements have been satisfactorily completed (see paragraph 12).

    4. All-day DAS courses start at the time specified in the booking confirmation email.

    5. Trainees must arrive at or before the training start time. Late arrival may result in the trainee being unable to participate and the booking being treated as a late cancellation.

    6. A minimum of 10 working days' notice is required to cancel or postpone a course. Where sufficient notice is not given, the course fee will normally be forfeited. However, we will make reasonable efforts to re-sell the booking and, if successful, we will refund the fee less a 10% administration charge.

    7. All cancellations and date change requests notified in time will be subject to a 10% administration fee.

    8. Where the DVSA cancels a Mod 1 or Mod 2 test due to adverse weather before the test day, the DVSA test fee and LMT instructor and motorcycle hire fees will be refunded or transferred to a new booking. If the DVSA cancels the test on the day of the test or at the test centre, the DVSA test fee will be refunded by the DVSA. LMT instructor and motorcycle hire fees remain payable as the instructor and motorcycle hire service will have already been provided.

    9. LMT reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to adverse weather conditions, mechanical breakdown, illness, or any other unforeseen circumstances outside of our control. In the case of cancellation by LMT, you will be offered an alternative date or your fees will be refunded in full.

    11. Customer safety is of paramount importance to us. We reserve the right to cancel or terminate training if trainees are deemed inappropriately dressed for the course. In this event, the booking may be treated as a late cancellation and the trainee's fee may be forfeited. Appropriate clothing: Jeans with no rips or tears (no shorts/tracksuit bottoms); long-sleeve sturdy jacket (no hoodies, no puffer jackets); substantial leather boots, shoes with socks, or leather trainers (no slip-on/slip-off footwear, no fabric trainers).

    12. CBT trainees who do not reach the required standard during off-road training will not be able to complete the on-road element. The CBT course will end at that stage and the trainee will need to rebook. Rebooked CBT courses will be charged at the usual rate, unless 'Peace of Mind' cover was taken.

    13. Payment for a CBT course covers the training provided by London Motorcycle Training and does not guarantee the issue of a CBT certificate. A CBT certificate will only be issued once the trainee has successfully completed all five elements of CBT training to the required DVSA standard.

    14. London Motorcycle Training reserves the right to terminate training if a trainee is unable to demonstrate the required level of control, understanding, or road safety awareness necessary to continue safely. In such cases, the course will end and the trainee will be required to book additional training in order to continue.

    15. Trainees must follow all instructions given by instructors at all times. London Motorcycle Training reserves the right to terminate training immediately where a trainee behaves in a manner that is unsafe, abusive, or disruptive. In such cases, the trainee will not be entitled to a refund.

    16. Motorcycle training is an outdoor activity and courses will normally proceed in wet or cold weather. Courses will only be postponed where conditions are considered unsafe.

    17. Training locations may occasionally change due to operational requirements. In such cases customers will be notified in advance.

    18. At the time of booking, all trainees enter a vehicle hire agreement with London Motorcycle Training which enables them to use the company's vehicles on the road for the duration of their training. Trainees are liable for and responsible for any traffic offences committed and penalties incurred whilst riding the company's vehicles.

    19. Trainees are liable for any damage to a rider training vehicle up to a maximum of GBP 250 for mopeds/motorcycles of 125cc or below and up to a maximum of GBP 500 in all other cases. An option to purchase a liability waiver is available.

    20. LMT cannot guarantee that a trainee's preferred choice of motorcycle will be available on the day of training.

    21. Peace of Mind Cover:

    20.1 Where selected at the time of booking, Peace of Mind Cover entitles the customer to one (1) additional training day at no extra charge if the customer does not pass the CBT or is unable to attend the originally booked session due to unforeseen circumstances;

    20.2 The additional training day must be taken within three (3) months of the original booking date;

    20.3 The additional training day is subject to availability;

    20.4 Peace of Mind Cover is non-transferable and non-refundable, and may be used once only;

    20.5 Peace of Mind Cover applies to the same course type and does not include third-party charges;

    20.6 Peace of Mind Cover does not apply to no-shows or cancellations where no prior notice is given. Notice must be given by the end of LMT office working hours on the day before the training;

    20.7 Peace of Mind Cover is a discretionary training guarantee offered by London Motorcycle Training and is not an insurance product;

    21. Liability

    21.1 London Motorcycle Training accepts no liability for any loss or damage to personal property brought to the training location;

    21.2 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or for any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited by law;

    22. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
